Simonne began her legal career in Washington D.C. after graduating from the University of Oregon’s School of Law in 2001. She returned to Oregon in 2004 and began a long-term public service career, first as a public defender for Intermountain Public Defenders, then as Deputy District Attorney for the Umatilla County District Attorney’s office, where she specialized in the prosecution of child abuse, sex abuse, and homicide.

In 2009, Simonne became an Assistant Attorney General for the Oregon Department of Justice. There, she represented the Oregon Department of Human Services (“ODHS”) in circuit courts throughout Oregon and in contested case hearings before the Office of Administrative Hearings.

For more than a decade, Simonne advised the ODHS Child Welfare Division on the statutes and administrative rules governing the child abuse reporting process and other agency duties. Additionally, Simonne regularly worked with the Child Abuse Multidisciplinary Intervention Program (CAMI), Child Abuse Multidisciplinary Teams (MDTs), and Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs), and assisted in the drafting of the Oregon Interviewing Guidelines (Third Edition).

Her advocacy for children and families led her to found Weyand Law in 2020 with her law partner, Kristen Williams. Today, Simonne uses her extensive training and experience to represent individuals and families who are subjects of the ODHS child abuse investigation process. She also litigates cases against administrative agencies.
