Professional Bio:

Kristen has a long history of public service stretching back to her work in the United States Peace Corps before she chose to enter law school. After graduating from Willamette University College of Law in 2005, Kristen worked in private practice before joining the Oregon Department of Justice (“DOJ”) Appellate Division in 2008.

She then transitioned within the DOJ to trial work representing the Oregon Department of Human Services (“ODHS”) in child welfare matters primarily involving child abuse cases. For the next decade, Kristen advised one of the state’s largest agencies on the statutes, rules, and laws governing child abuse reporting and other agency duties. As a Senior Assistant Attorney General, she was routinely trusted to represent ODHS in contested administrative hearings and in circuit court.

In 2020, Kristen and her law partner, Simonne, founded Williams Weyand Law, LLC. Kristen now uses her extensive experience and highly specialized knowledge to counsel individuals accused of abuse or neglect and to represent them in Oregon state and appellate courts. She regularly appears before the Oregon Court of Appeals on juvenile matters and serves on the Oregon Trial Lawyer’s appellate amicus committee.
